- LEADERSHIP ON POOL DECK
Present, involved and easy to know.
Blue Fin’s leaders are not removed from the day-to-day experience. They teach, coach, observe, guide the team and talk with families.
That hands-on approach keeps standards consistent and helps each child’s needs stay visible as they progress.
Maidie Laidlaw
Managing Director Blue Fin
Maidie is an experienced swim school manager, coach and teacher with nearly 25 years of experience. She leads the Blue Fin team with a personal approach, helping children feel known, supported, and proud of what they can achieve in the water.

Judy C
Receptionist – Swim School
Judy has been part of Blue Fin since it began in 1980. For over 45 years, she’s brought stamps, good vibes and wonderful energy to the front desk.
Lila M
Team Leader & Teacher – Swim School
Part of the Blue Fin family since July 2023, Lila brings four years of teaching experience and a calm, thoughtful approach to every lesson. She loves supporting children through each milestone, from their first bubbles to swimming full laps, and especially enjoys that moment when breaststroke finally clicks. Outside the pool, she loves tackling 1,500-piece puzzles and dreams of swimming in Malta’s Blue Grotto.
Haley L
Team Leader & Teacher – Swim School
Haley loves helping children become confident, independent swimmers who feel safe in the water. With a year and a half of teaching experience, she especially enjoys teaching torpedoes and building strong foundations for the skills ahead. Outside Blue Fin, she’s passionate about surf lifesaving and has an adventurous swimming goal of her own: swimming with sharks!
Cinzia C
Team Leader & Teacher – Swim School
Known to us as Chin, Cinzia brings lifeguarding and swim teaching experience from Italy. She loves seeing that moment when a child finds their rhythm and feels proud of their progress. Outside the pool, you’ll find her enjoying the outdoors with her energetic Labrador or relaxing with a good crime novel.
Samson M
Team Leader & Teacher – Swim School
Part of the Blue Fin team for three years, Samson brings experience as a Victorian State Championship medallist and a water polo player with the Victorian Phoenix. He loves helping children improve their skills, grow in confidence and enjoy the water. Outside teaching and studying environmental engineering, you’ll find him surfing or swimming at the beach. He also has a pet python named Kiwi!
Ella T
Swim Teacher
Ella brings two years of swim teaching experience, enthusiasm and patience to her lessons. She especially loves seeing a child go from nervous about their first lesson to leaving with a smile, proud of what they’ve achieved. Her favourite stroke is butterfly, and her adventurous side extends beyond the pool: she loves climbing trees and dreams of swimming in Iceland.
Issy F
Swim Teacher
Issy’s Blue Fin journey began as a two-year-old swimmer in 2009. Now with four years of teaching experience, she brings energy, empathy and an understanding of how it feels to be learning something new. She loves helping children find their confidence, just as her teachers did for her. Outside the pool, she enjoys netball, cooking and beach days in Apollo Bay.
Max T
Swim Teacher
A familiar face at Blue Fin for six years, Max enjoys teaching swimmers of every age and level. Patient and encouraging, he loves seeing children overcome a fear, master a new stroke or achieve something they didn’t think they could. Outside the pool, Max builds his own furniture, putting that same patience and attention to detail to work.
Zizi M
Swim Teacher
Zizi brings a calm, caring approach to her lessons and especially enjoys working with our younger swimmers. Her experience as a disability support worker helps her adapt her teaching to each child, and she loves watching nervous swimmers become confident in the water. Away from the pool, she enjoys crocheting, baking treats and spending a day at the zoo.
