Our Program FAQ

Common questions from families preparing to begin lessons at Blue Fin.

Start with your child’s age and current water confidence. When you enquire, tell us about any previous lessons and what they are comfortable doing in the water. Our team will help identify the most suitable starting point.

Our classes are deliberately small so teachers can provide personal attention. Parent and child classes have a maximum ratio of 1:6, pre-school classes 1:3 and school-aged classes 1:4.

A parent or carer joins the child in the water during our Babies and Toddlers program. As children move into independent pre-school and school-aged classes, they learn directly with their teacher.

Children progress as their confidence, technique and independence develop—not simply because they reach a certain age. Our sequential program builds each skill carefully before introducing the next.

Yes. We welcome conversations about communication, sensory, physical or learning needs. Sharing this information before lessons helps us consider the most supportive class, teacher and approach for your child.

Please bring suitable swimwear, a towel and goggles if your child uses them. Babies and toddlers should also wear an appropriate swim nappy. Our team can clarify anything else when your class is confirmed.
